The New Surry Theatre Performing Arts School in Blue Hill January Semester, 2016

The New Surry Theatre’s Performing Arts School, celebrating its 44th year will offer seven different classes in the performing arts, in the Blue Hill Town Hall Theatre beginning the week of January 11th. Each of these classes will be open to inexperienced and experienced adult students from thirteen years of age to octogenarians. In addition, the Acting classes will offer three CEU credits if you are involved in Education. The ninth and last class of the semester will be “Open House Performances” for the community, bringing all of the classes together.

Students taking these classes will be able to use the skills they learn not only in theatre but also in interviews for jobs and colleges or to just unleash their creative juices and have more fun in life.

New Surry Theatre offers the opportunity for anyone to explore creative expression through the following disciplines of theatre:

Monday Evening:

Thursday Evening:

  • 6:30 – 8:30PM — Singing For The Stage with Suzanne Eaton (in Suzanne Eaton's home in Blue Hill)
  • 6:30 – 8:30PM — Dance For The Stage with Nina Robinson-Poole (in the Blue Hill Town Hill theatre)

Wednesday or Friday Evening:

  • 6:30 – 8:00PM — Playwriting with Bill Raiten - night and time at the playwright's convenience

The first class you take is $300 for the semester and any class you take in addition is only $200. In other words you can take two classes for $500, or three classes for $700. There are needs-based NST Scholarships available as well as Family (Parent/Child/Spouse) Scholarships thanks to grants from the Quimby Foundation, the New Surry Theater and from Stan and Joey Brezenoff.
